Human beings
are one of the many living orgnisms present on earth. We are physically
made of exactly same elements that form all other entities that
live on earth.Ayurveda has drawn most comprehensive picture of
human body and the natural world, saying that the element of nature-Panchmahabhutas:
Prithvi[Earth], Jala[Water], Vayu[Air], Agni[Fire] and Akasha[Space]
are also component of human body. When we die our body returns
to earth,water,fire,air and space.
In our body
space/akasha is present where ever there is cavity like nostrills, lungs, mouth, ear, throat
and stomach.Air/vayu in movement in lungs, heart, stomach, intestines
and joints.Fire/agni is metabolic activity, the eyes, intelligence
and body temperature.Water/jala is all plasma, muscles, mucus and
saliva.Earth/prithvi is any solid structure like fat, muscles, skin, nails
and hair. These Panchmahabhutas are manifested in three types
of humors Vata,Pitta and kapha. These three are further recognized
as tridoshas or three faults-vata,pitta and kapha irregularties.Just
as every person has a unique finger print, according to ayurveda
each person has a distinct pattern of energy-a specific combination
of physical.natural and emotional characterstics.
Ayurveda describes
about these three fundamental energies that governs our inner
and outer environments:movements,transformation and structure.These
primary forces are responsible for the chacteristics of our mind
and body. These are basic energy type called dosha present in every
body. These three doshas are backbone of Ayurvedic diagnosis and
treatments.Diagnosis and treatment are based on tridosha concept.
